Orientation with New Students~

OHKAY! I wanna rant first. MY STUPID OMGWTFBBQKNSCCB connection is horrible at home, I wanna slaughter the stupid internet service. NO, I DON’T use STREAMYX, i use some weird and stupid internet provider which provides SOLELY to my condo area. I can’t get on Windows Live Messenger, I keep failing when I send messages on Windows Messenger or MSN 7.0 (yes, i demoted my msn to 7.0). GAH!! I can’t even properly upload photos so basically I am COLLEGE now trying to blog! Because I know you guys miss my updates… *perasan~~~*, but anyway, here’s a short update on myself~

Two weeks back, Bpsych (Bachelor in Psychology) of HELP had its orientation and I was one of the mentors! (actually I’m from both Student Council and PSG - Mentor, so… I got alotta work to do~ XD). Anyway, as a Mentor I sorta act as a guide/leader/tutor/wtv that supports the new comers in their first semester, for them to get used to this lifestyle. We are academic and emotional supporters and a friend. Someone they can look for if they have problems (NOT financial ones, mind you =P, or sexual XD).

Night Rhythm at Mardi Gras

Attention!

There will be a Charity Event that is coming up this Friday (29th August 2008).

It is cheaper than it usually should be and it is just too damn cool!

Night Rhythm & MardiGras proudly presents to you local live bands and dance performances which features Kujo, Enrai, Charms All Stars Cheerleaders, Hip-Hop, Capoeira & Latin.

Showcases local bands and dance performers perform their best at MardiGras, 1 Utama Shopping Centre. The bands will be performing a mix of old school rock and contemporary rock music such as death metal, grunge and power pop and also in addition of dance performances in the hope of raising financial aid for The Gospel of Salvation Mission Society (GOSM) Precious Children Home.

30-Hour Famine 2008 Prologue

As many of you may have known, I went for the annual 30-hour Famine held last satuday (23rd of August) at HELP University College for the first 26 hours and at the Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium for the remaining 6 hours. The event was really tiring, exhausting but yet meaningful, educational and enjoyable to a certain extend. As to why have I described it as it is, I will explain them as I proceed with the posts regarding the Famine.

As the title had noted, this is a prologue, just to update my blog-readers so that you guys won’t think that my blog is dead or on hiatus. No-no-no, I will update on the Famine as soon as possible. But first I need all of the pictures so I can plan my posts. If you guys have noticed, I have been saying Famine postS instead of post. That’s because I got alot to say about the Famine and I don’t wanna cramp everything into one post. So you guys should be anticipating around 5 posts on the Famine, as I will be splitting the pictures and information into different phases.

With that said, I am going to ask for those who have taken pictures of me to send me their pictures… Honestly, I don’t really remember who took my pictures, except for Gorgan, Eu Veng, Shuling and Sou Peng. Oh and the event photographers…. so do contact me yeah, if you anyhow, have my pictures ohkay? I’d appreciate it! Thanks ^^

So guys, be prepared for the post “30-Hour Famine 2008 Phase I”, as soon as I got all the photos, you guys will know what happened during the Famine! =P

Famine Training

Ohkay… I’m like SUPER tired so I am going make this short and sweet…

Tomorrow I am going for the 30 Hour Famine event, where we will FAST (it means - don’t eat)

for 30 hours as a fund raising event for children living in poverty across countries

and also that we experience the little amount of hunger that they face every day.

A Meaningful Event, to me. I joined last year as a participant, and so I decided to join this year as a Volunteer.

And I’m a Group Leader, so I will be leading a group tomorrow.

Thus… We had training for these volunteers to handle things tomorrow!

The training was fine, but today’s preparation and practice was tedious and hectic since I am also

performing for the Famine…. cuz I’m part of the choir group. Cool aight?

Anyway here are some pictures of the Famine Training and I’m going to sleep already.. need alot of rest.

Taylor’s Open Dance Arena

This is what you need to know about the Dance Club’s latest project - The Open Dance Arena.

It’s going to be on Friday, the 15th of August from 6.30pm until… late.

It’s going to be in the car park of the Taylor’s Subang Jaya Main Campus.

It’s going to be pretty damn awesome.

Also… It’s going an ALCOHOL-FREE, DRUG-FREE and NON-SMOKING event (and yes we are super serious about this).

The exact amount up for grabs is yet to be confirmed - we’re getting new sponsors every day and so our cash cow keeps growing - but right now we can promise you a total of cold, hard cash - at least RM3,500.

Participants, you are encouraged to bring your entourage along - tickets cost RM15 (pre-event) each or RM20 (door sales) and sales can be arranged through email. Just send an email to the taylorsdanceclub@gmail.com with the subject header Dance Arena Tix telling us how many tickets you would like and which college you’re from.

You can also purchase them directly from our ECA Center - located opposite the Taylor’s Main Campus in Subang Jaya.

Just a few of the rules and regulations:

-Participant age limit: 16-23 years
-Performance time limit: 7 minutes
-Registration fee: RM70 for a group performance and RM30 for a solo performance (go ahead, we dare you)
-We the committee reserve the right to make changes to any of the rules and regulations without prior notice.
-We the committee reserve the right to disqualify participants and bar audience members at any time if we found anyone breaking the rules and regulations of the event.
-We the committee are not responsible for anything - unless you have a really awesome time, then yeah, we will be responsible for that.
-Do note that you can mix crew members from different colleges/high schools (you don’t even have to be in a college, as long as you fall within the age group). We don’t care about stuff like that. Just come strut your stuffs!

As for your registration form, well, initially we were going to create an actual form which you could download and print. But since we want you to email it in anyway, where’s the sense in that?

Hence, this is your registration form.

Compose an email with the following details:

-Name of crew
-FULL NAMES of crew members and IC numbers
-Contactable email address and handphone number.
-Name of campus (if representing college).
-Additional notes about your performance and sound/lighting
requirements (optional).
-Information about your entourage, inclusive of but not limited
to: sound/lighting engineers, roadies, groupies etc (optional).

We are only half kidding with that last one.

This form is to emailed to taylorsdanceclub@gmail.com with the subject header Dance Arena Registration. You can also include any requests for tickets in this email.

ENTRY DEADLINE: 8th AUGUST 2008, 12.oo PM

Participants will be required to be present at the Taylor’s Main Campus on either the 6th, 7th or 8th of August for drawing of slots as well as rehearsals so that we can meet your requirements to the best of our ability. You should also bring the registration fee along then. We will tell you more by the end of the week, or in our emails to you.
